Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, store and delete your personal data and the files you send us.

This is not legal advice. These policies are written to accurately describe how Real Estate Video Editor actually operates today. Before relying on them for compliance, have a licensed attorney in your operating jurisdiction review them — data protection law (GDPR, CCPA and equivalents) is jurisdiction-specific and changes over time.

What we collect

When you use the contact page or quote request page, you send us your name, email address, and project details — property type, approximate footage or photo count, turnaround needs, and a link to your files. Both pages currently work by opening a pre-filled email in your own email client (a “mailto” link) rather than submitting to a form database. That means this information goes directly to our inbox at [email protected] and is not stored in a separate CRM, spreadsheet or marketing database. If we later add a database-backed form, this policy will be updated to describe what changes.

The lawful basis for processing this information is your consent in sending it to us, and, once you engage us, contractual necessity — we need your project details and files to deliver the edit you’re paying for.

How your footage and photos are handled

You send footage or photographs via a link you control — Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer, or a similar service of your choosing. We do not operate a separate proprietary storage system; your files remain on the platform you shared them through, with access limited to the editor assigned to your project and, where relevant, one project lead reviewing the work.

Retention and deletion: working copies and project files are kept for 60 days after final delivery, to make revisions and re-deliveries straightforward without asking you to re-send footage. After 60 days, project files are deleted from any working storage we control. If you’d like files kept longer, tell us and we will — if you’d like them deleted sooner, email us and we’ll confirm deletion in writing.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and guides are useful, and to see which content converts to enquiries. GA4 collects standard usage data — pages visited, approximate location at country/region level, device type, and referral source. You can opt out using your browser’s Do Not Track setting or a Google Analytics opt-out browser extension; ad-blocking and privacy browser extensions also typically block it.

Cookies

The site sets analytics cookies from Google Analytics 4 as described above. It does not currently run advertising or retargeting pixels. If we embed third-party video players (for example, YouTube or Vimeo) in future, those platforms may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies, independent of this one.

Email

We send transactional email only — quote responses, project updates, and replies to your enquiries. We do not currently operate a marketing newsletter. We do not sell, rent or trade your email address to any third party, under any circumstances.

Third-party processors

Data may pass through: our website hosting provider (to serve this site), the file-sharing platform you choose to send footage through (Dropbox, Google Drive, WeTransfer or similar), Google Analytics (for site usage data), and, once configured, an email delivery service and a payment processor for invoicing. We choose providers that offer contractual data protection commitments appropriate to a service business handling client files.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, request its deletion, receive a copy in a portable format, or object to how it’s processed. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] — we’ll respond within 30 days, or sooner where local law requires a shorter window.

International transfers

We work with clients in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and elsewhere, and our team and service providers may be located in different countries from you. Where your data crosses borders, we rely on the data protection safeguards our providers offer (such as standard contractual clauses, where applicable) to keep it protected to a comparable standard.

Data breach notification

If a data breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify affected clients and, where legally required, the relevant supervisory authority, without undue delay — generally within 72 hours of becoming aware, consistent with GDPR’s notification standard, even for clients outside the EU/UK.

Our commitments to you

  • You retain full ownership of every file you upload to us.
  • We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
  • Files are retained for 60 days after delivery and then deleted, unless you ask us to keep them longer.
  • We do not use client footage in our own marketing without your written permission.
  • We will sign an NDA on request, at no cost.

Confirm before launch: the sections below reference “the company” rather than a specific registered legal entity, and do not name a governing-law jurisdiction. Fill in your registered business name, address, and the jurisdiction whose law will govern disputes once the business is formally registered — we can’t invent those details for you.
